Makayla Buchanan joins U.S. Chamber Foundation's fellowship program

Makayla Buchanan has been selected for the U.S. Chamber Foundation Education and Workforce Fellowship Program, joining a group of 34 other state and local chamber executives, economic development professionals, and association leaders.

“I’m thrilled to join this esteemed group of leaders and look forward to the opportunity to connect and learn from others in the cohort. This fellowship will help us find and consider business-led efforts that address kindergarten readiness and 3rd grade reading outcomes, which are critical for Florida’s future success,” said Buchanan.

Caitlin Codella Low, Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, stated, “We created the Business Leads Fellowship Program in response to the needs of our state and local chamber partners. They, better than anyone, see the critical link between education and economic development, and we are glad to be able to support them as they take on this critical leadership role in their community.”

The eight-month program includes both in-person and virtual meetings covering early childhood education, K-12, postsecondary education, and workforce development. Upon completion, participants will join a network of over 350 chambers of commerce and statewide associations engaged in education and workforce initiatives.
