FloridaCommerce has announced that the West Palm Beach metro area experienced the fastest over-the-year job growth rate in education and health services among all metro areas in the state, adding 6,000 jobs (+5.4%) in June 2024. The labor force in the West Palm Metro area increased by 1,521 in June 2024, marking a year-over-year increase of 0.2%.
The region added 11,400 new private sector jobs over the year in June 2024, representing a 1.8% increase. The unemployment rate for the area was recorded at 3.5% in June 2024, up from 3.2% in June 2023.
Statewide, Florida's economic data indicates continued strength and stability with total private sector employment growing by 172,700 jobs (2.0%) over the year since June 2023, surpassing the national private sector job growth rate of 1.5%.
In June 2024, the professional and business services sector saw the largest job gains among major industries with an addition of 6,000 jobs (+0.4%) from the previous month. This was followed by education and health services which added 5,500 jobs (+0.4%). Florida’s labor force grew by 66,000 (+0.6%) over the year since June 2023.
