JMI releases guide analyzing six proposed Florida constitutional amendments

TALLAHASSEE — On election day, November 5, 2024, more than 10 million Floridians will cast their votes. In addition to electing a U.S. President, 29 members of Congress, 120 members of the State House and 20 of the 40-member Florida Senate, the ballot tasks Floridians with voting on six proposed constitutional amendments. Constitutional initiatives play a pivotal role in the governance of the state and thus warrant careful consideration.

In an effort to help citizens better understand these new ballot initiatives, The James Madison Institute (JMI) has released a 2024 Florida Amendment Guide in both English and Spanish, analyzing the six ballot initiatives on the 2024 Florida ballot.

“If 2024 has taught us anything, it is that policies matter. This year’s slate of amendments will have far-reaching implications for Floridians, from how we regulate marijuana to how we conduct future elections on school board members to potentially amending property tax exemptions. It is our hope that The James Madison Institute’s 2024 Amendment Guide will educate voters on the issues present and guide the decisions they make for our future,” said Dr. Bob McClure, President and CEO of The James Madison Institute.

“This is a pivotal election for the future of the Sunshine State’s governance and economy. It’s important to be informed and know what the impact of a yes or no vote will be for each of the six amendments. We owe it to our children and their children to carefully weigh each seriously. Our mission is to provide objective help to voters so that they may navigate each of the amendments through analysis and honest appraisal,” stated Logan Padgett, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs.

The guide can be accessed in both English and Spanish versions along with a one-page synopsis summarizing its content.

The James Madison Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting limited government, economic freedom, federalism, individual liberty coupled with individual responsibility.
