Governor DeSantis appoints six to Electrical Contractors Licensing Board

Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the appointment of six individuals to the Electrical Contractors Licensing Board. The appointees are Douglas Bassett, Rafael Echarri, Robert Lombardo, Kevin McElroy, Donald Smith Jr., and Clarence Tibbs.

Douglas Bassett serves as the Executive Director and Head of Licensing and Compliance at Comcast Xfinity Home. He is also a National Company Director for the Electronic Security Association and participates in several committees within the organization. Bassett obtained his Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician Certification from Seminole State College of Florida.

Rafael Echarri is the President of R & D Electric, Inc. With over 20 years in electrical contracting, he previously served on the Engineering Contractor’s Association. Echarri holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Florida International University.

Robert Lombardo is the President of Lombardo Brokerage Services. In addition to his professional role, he serves as President of the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs and sits on the Bonita Springs Planning Commission. A United States Navy veteran, Lombardo earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State College.

Kevin D. McElroy III is President and Lead Electrician at Performance One Electrical Services with more than 28 years in electrical work. He graduated from the Florida Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Program at Mid Florida Technical College.

Donald Smith Jr., Chief Commercial Officer at Miller Electric Company, engages actively in community organizations such as the American Heart Association Heart Ball Executive Committee and various boards including those of Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and Florida Chamber of Commerce. Smith attended Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Clarence Tibbs is President of S.T.E. Electrical Systems, Inc., and a contractor for HW Automation with over 50 years in the electrical industry and 35 years as an electrical contractor. Tibbs has also been involved with the Lake County Home Builders Association.

These appointments require confirmation by the Florida Senate.
