FloridaCommerce awards $6.5 million for non-custodial parent employment program

FloridaCommerce has awarded over $6 million to various organizations through the Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program (NCPEP). The funding aims to help Floridians achieve self-sufficiency and improve their ability to consistently meet child support payments. Nine organizations will use these funds to provide employment assistance, job training, and other supportive services.

“Since 2019, Governor DeSantis has championed initiatives that are pro-family and promoted programs that elevate Florida’s workforce,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “The NCPEP increases the capability of parents to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. This funding provides more than financial assistance, giving non-custodial parents access to job training, job search, parenting skills, financial literacy, and more to elevate their families’ opportunities.”

The organizations receiving awards through the NCPEP include:

- CareerSource Palm Beach County ($434,301) – For on-the-job training, classroom training, supplies, and supportive services in Palm Beach County.

- CareerSource Southwest Florida ($1,040,971) – For classroom training, supplies, and supportive services in Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, Collier, and Monroe counties.

- CareerSource Broward ($785,000) – For paid internships, classroom training, supplies, and supportive services in Broward County.

- Central Florida Urban League ($1,000,000) – For Individual Training Accounts and supportive services in Sumter, Lake, Seminole Orange and Osceola counties.

- CareerSource Heartland ($2000) – For paid internships classroom training supplies and supportive services in Hardee DeSoto Highlands Okeechobee counties.

- CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia ($1 141 136) – For paid internships employment stipends classroom training supplies supportive services in Flagler Volusia Brevard counties.

- Cornerstone Connection ($1 000 000) – For vocational training including Commercial Driver’s License legal services supportive services in Sumter Lake Seminole Orange Osceola Volusia counties.

- Young Fathers of Central Florida ($250 000) – To support young fathers with employment personal responsibility supportive services in Sumter Lake Seminole Orange Osceola counties.

- CareerSource Suncoast ($651599) – To help secure paid internships classroom training supplies supportive services Manatee Sarasota counties.

FloridaCommerce assists unemployed or underemployed individuals to become self-sufficient through grants and investments aimed at strengthening workforce development across the state. The organization is dedicated to equipping communities with essential skills and resources for long-term resiliency.
