Flags at half-staff in Florida for Patriot Day

Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a directive for flags to be flown at half-staff across the State of Florida on September 11, 2024, in observance of Patriot Day. This marks the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

In his memorandum, Governor DeSantis stated: "United our country stands in remembrance of the 2,977 lives that were lost on that day; including many first responders, local law enforcement, and military personnel who demonstrated selfless courage in responding to these evil acts."

The governor's directive mandates that flags of the United States and the State of Florida be lowered from sunrise to sunset at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout Florida. This act is intended to honor and remember those who perished during the attacks.
