Lynn Hartley, a Realtor® based in Fort Walton Beach, has been named Humanitarian of the Year for her extensive support of Building Homes for Heroes. Over the past two years, Hartley has chaired the Building Homes for Heroes Task Force, which constructs or modifies homes and gifts them mortgage-free to injured veterans, first responders, and their families. The organization also provides support services aimed at helping recipients build better lives.
Hartley's contributions include collaborating with local builders to secure mortgage-free homes for wounded veterans. As chair of the task force, she takes on multiple responsibilities such as making calls, securing sponsors, running errands, managing payments and spreadsheets, and organizing auction and gift baskets.
Since 2014, under Hartley's leadership and determination, the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors (ECAR) has raised over $125,000 for Building Homes for Heroes.
Reflecting on her work ethic and philosophy towards her various roles as a wife, mother, friend, Realtor®, and philanthropist, Hartley cites Thomas Watson Sr., chairman and CEO of IBM: “To be successful you have to have your heart in your business and your business in your heart.”
