The VISN 8 healthcare facilities have announced operational status updates due to Tropical Storm Milton as of Sunday, October 6, 2024. Appointments that are not switched to virtual will be rescheduled.
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System has reported that the C. W. “Bill” Young VAMC Campus emergency department is closed until further notice on Sunday, October 6. On Monday, October 7, all outpatient appointments will either be converted to virtual or rescheduled. The campus will remain closed from Tuesday, October 8 through Thursday, October 10, with all appointments being rescheduled during this period. Additionally, all other sites of care within the system will be closed from Tuesday through Thursday.
In contrast, the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System will be fully operational on Monday, October 7. Similarly, James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and Clinics in Tampa, Orlando VA Healthcare System, West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System, and Miami VA Healthcare System have all confirmed they will also be fully operational on Monday.
