Office provides aid for Floridians facing Hurricane Helene's financial impact

Today, the Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) announced the availability of resources for Floridians affected by Hurricane Helene. These resources aim to assist residents in locating information about their financial services providers, including state-chartered banks, credit unions, mortgage servicers, and other financial entities.

"I want to ensure that Floridians have these important resources at their fingertips as they respond to the financial impacts of Hurricane Helene," stated OFR Commissioner Russell C. Weigel, III. "The Office of Financial Regulation encourages consumers and businesses to be proactive and contact their providers as soon as possible about programs and services that may be available to help them."

The OFR has provided a list of consumer resources related to various financial services:

For banking needs:

- Contact information for state-chartered financial institutions

- A tool to find FDIC-insured banking institutions

- A tool to find credit unions

- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) disaster resources

- Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) disaster resources

For mortgages and loans:

- A list of mortgage services resources

- National Multistate Licensing System lender search

- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau disaster resources

For securities:

- Information on brokers or investment advisers

- Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) disaster resources

- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) response to Hurricane Helene
