FloridaCommerce has provided over $10 million in financial assistance to more than 242 small businesses in Florida affected by Hurricane Helene. This aid is part of the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program, designed to support businesses as they await other funding sources such as insurance.
The program's loans are meant to "bridge the gap" between the immediate impact of a disaster and the receipt of longer-term recovery funds, which may include federal or commercial loans, insurance claims, or other resources.
Eligible small businesses with fewer than 100 employees, including sole proprietors, across numerous counties can apply for loans up to $50,000. For agriculture and aquaculture small businesses, loans up to $100,000 are available.
Administered by FloridaCommerce with fiscal oversight from Florida First Capital Finance Corporation, these short-term loans are zero-interest personal loans funded by the State of Florida. They require repayment by approved applicants and are not grants.
Business owners interested in applying can visit FloridaJobs.org/EBL for more information on lending guidelines and necessary documentation. The application deadline is November 25, 2024. Additional inquiries can be directed to 833-832-4494 during business hours.
