Uber and Brightline expand partnership to enhance Florida riders’ experience

Brightline and Uber are further expanding their partnership, building on their 2023 collaboration that integrated Uber’s rideshare service directly into Brightline’s app.

The initial partnership made it easier for travelers to access Brightline’s stations using Uber, complementing the Brightline+ service, which already included airport shuttles, event shuttles, and electric golf carts. Now, the two companies have taken their collaboration a step further by implementing Uber Transit’s Vouchers API, offering even more convenience and flexibility to riders.

Launched in 2024, the Vouchers API allows Brightline to automatically issue $10 Uber ride vouchers to PREMIUM ticket holders for trips to or from any Brightline station. This streamlined feature integrates directly into Brightline’s app, ensuring a seamless experience for travelers by eliminating the need for manual intervention. Riders can request their Uber ride when they’re ready, giving them more control over their journey.

“Ensuring a seamless guest experience is a priority for us,” said Patrick Goddard, president of Brightline. “By expanding our partnership with Uber through the Vouchers API, we’re providing our guests with even more convenient, door-to-door transportation options.”

“Through this partnership with Brightline, Uber continues our work in complementing mass transportation and expanding transportation access in South Florida,” said Dmitriy Vanchugov, Head of Partnerships for Transit, Uber.

In addition to the Vouchers API, Brightline+ continues to offer fixed-route and EV shuttles to key destinations such as Miami International Airport, Miami Beach, and Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport. Event shuttles and electric golf carts also remain part of the service, ensuring connectivity to popular attractions near Brightline stations.

By integrating Uber’s Vouchers API, Brightline and Uber are setting a new standard for mobility in South Florida, making it easier for riders to travel seamlessly from start to finish.

According to an Uber report, since implementing the Vouchers API in January 2024, Brightline has delivered 51,000+ Uber trips with over 2,000 weekly active riders, all while reporting decreasing operational costs.

According to Brightline, the rail provider aims to commence service on Brightline West in 2028, marking it as one of the first high-speed passenger rail systems in the United States.
