The Florida Department of Education has announced the allocation of $62 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program. This funding aims to create or expand workforce development programs throughout the state, providing students with practical educational experiences in fields such as aerospace, biomedical science, digital video technology, and aviation.
Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. highlighted the state's commitment to workforce education under Governor Ron DeSantis' leadership. "Under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida is leading the nation in workforce education and workforce development," said Diaz. "Today’s awards are a testament to our commitment to providing students with the resources they need to achieve success."
Governor DeSantis had previously signed $100 million for this initiative in the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Focus on Florida’s Future Budget. This builds on a similar investment made during the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The program offers grants to school districts and institutions within the Florida College System for developing career and technical education programs that lead to industry certifications listed on the CAPE Industry Certification Funding List.
