Governor Ron DeSantis has signed House Bill 433, a piece of legislation aimed at protecting small businesses and other employers from what some see as overreach by local governments. The bill seeks to provide these businesses with the freedom to operate without the burden of navigating various local regulations that may be inconsistent or contradictory.
Bill Herrle, the State Director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), commented on this development, emphasizing the challenges faced by small business owners. "Running a small business is never easy, but it’s even harder when owners have to contend with a patchwork of local and sometimes contradictory rules and regulations," Herrle stated. He highlighted that while large corporations can afford compliance officers to manage such complexities, small business owners often lack the time and resources needed.
Herrle praised House Bill 433 for shielding small businesses from regulations he described as 'gotcha' rules that contribute to confusion and uncertainty. "On behalf of our small business members, I want to thank the Florida Legislature and Governor DeSantis for stopping local governments from overplaying their regulatory hand and helping create a stable environment where owners can grow their businesses," he added.
The NFIB continues its advocacy work on behalf of small and independent businesses across the nation.
