TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Secretary of State Cord Byrd has issued a statement regarding Florida's readiness for the General Election scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. "Preparations for Election Day on Tuesday, November 5 are in place and the Florida Department of State is ready to ensure every step of the election is conducted according to Florida law," said Secretary Byrd. He emphasized support for all 67 Supervisors of Elections across Florida to facilitate a smooth voting process.
Voters are encouraged to verify their polling locations and plan to vote before polls close at 7 p.m. local time. Preliminary unofficial results will be reported starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on FloridaElectionWatch.gov.
For counties impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Executive Orders issued by Governor Ron DeSantis remain active. Secretary Byrd assured that communication with local election supervisors is ongoing to adhere to these orders.
Polls will operate from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., with voters required to vote at their designated polling places. Voter information cards or the Division’s Check Your Voter Status webpage can help locate assigned polling places.
Identification is mandatory at the polls, with several forms accepted including a Florida driver’s license or U.S. passport. If no photo ID with a signature is available, voters may cast provisional ballots subject to verification.
Preliminary unofficial election results will be accessible online after polls close in both Central and Eastern time zones at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Hourly voter turnout statistics will be available throughout Election Day.
Early voting and vote-by-mail statistics are updated daily based on county reports, accessible via the Division of Elections website. Counties will also provide hourly updates on vote-by-mail ballot counts during canvassing.
The voter registration deadline was October 7, with detailed statistical reports available online through the Division of Elections' resources.
