TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Secretary of State Cord Byrd has announced that polls are open across Florida for the General Election, providing registered voters with their final opportunity to cast ballots. Polling stations will remain operational until 7 p.m., local time.
Byrd stated, “The Department is standing by to assist Florida’s Supervisors of Elections and ensure that voters can receive and cast their ballots according to law. Voters can find more information about Election Day in Florida at dos.fl.gov/elections.”
Special measures are in place for counties impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, following executive orders issued by Governor Ron DeSantis earlier in October. Byrd and the Division of Elections are coordinating with local election supervisors to ensure compliance with these orders.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is working closely with the Division of Elections to facilitate timely delivery of vote-by-mail ballots, having conducted regular communication sessions with election supervisors leading up to Election Day.
Statewide security is being monitored, and no issues have been reported so far. Voter turnout data can be obtained from county Supervisor of Elections offices or through a statewide dashboard.
Polls will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., allowing those in line at closing time to vote. Voters must use their assigned polling places, which can be found on voter information cards or via an online lookup tool.
Voters need a valid photo ID at the polls; twelve forms are acceptable, including driver’s licenses and passports. If necessary ID is missing, voters may cast provisional ballots under specific conditions.
Vote-by-mail ballots must reach Supervisor of Elections offices by 7 p.m., local time, on Election Day for counting. Emergency procedures exist for last-minute vote-by-mail requests.
Preliminary election results will become available at 8 p.m., Eastern Time on the Florida Election Watch website due to time zone differences within the state. Official results from counties are expected by November 18.
The Division of Elections provides daily statistics on early voting and vote-by-mail participation based on reports from each county's Supervisor of Elections office.
Voter registration closed on October 7; detailed reports on registered voter numbers as of that date are accessible online.
The Florida Department of State’s Division of Elections ensures fair elections through legal compliance and administration support while promoting public participation in elections statewide.
