Earlier in the week, Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Jason Weida led a Florida delegation to the MEDICA Trade Fair in Germany. The group joined the Italian mission for events centered on healthcare and life sciences.
Governor DeSantis remarked, "As a result of today, we’re bringing more business opportunities, jobs, workforce training programs, and apprenticeships to the state of Florida." He emphasized Florida's aim to be a hub for opportunity and innovation.
First Lady Casey DeSantis visited the European Institute of Oncology with representatives from major Florida healthcare institutions. She stated, "The more minds and companies we can bring together on our efforts to beat cancer, the better."
In Milan, Governor DeSantis met with JAXPORT representatives and MSC regarding a potential shipping connection between Italy and Jacksonville. Cosentino plans to open its first North American facility in Jacksonville as part of this expansion.
Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue commented on Florida's seaports' role in international trade: "FDOT appreciates the leadership and opportunity from Governor DeSantis, Florida Commerce, and SelectFlorida to help show Florida seaports are open for business."
