Port Canaveral recently welcomed the Disney Treasure, the newest addition to Disney Cruise Line's fleet, as its third homeport vessel. This ship joins Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy at Port Canaveral, offering numerous guests magical cruise experiences annually.
"Disney Cruise Line has been a longtime partner of Port Canaveral, and we’re thrilled to welcome this newest addition to its fleet which will provide guests with unforgettable vacation experiences," stated Capt. John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral. He added that "Disney Treasure is the latest chapter of the continued growth at our Port."
In a ceremony following maritime tradition, officials including Canaveral Port Authority Chairman Micah Loyd and Commissioner Admiral Wayne Justice participated in a plaque exchange with Disney Treasure Capt. Marco Nogara and Jose Fernandez from Disney Cruise Line.
"We’re very pleased that Disney Treasure will be based in Port Canaveral," remarked Chairman Micah Loyd. He emphasized the shared commitment between Disney and Port Canaveral towards sustainable operations.
The 140,000-ton ship is part of the Triton Class and will commence seven-day sailings starting December 21, 2024. Its maiden voyage includes stops at Tortola, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay.
As the latest in the fleet, Disney Treasure features dining and entertainment options inspired by popular attractions and films such as Coco and Moana. The ship also includes family-friendly amenities like expansive play areas for children.
Port Canaveral was chosen for its strategic location near popular destinations and capability to handle LNG-powered vessels with specialized safety measures.
