Today, First Lady Casey DeSantis announced the launch of the second annual 'Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive' aimed at supporting foster families, Hope Florida participants, and other families in need across Florida during this holiday season. Donations will be collected until December 13, 2024.
"Every child should get to experience the joy of opening a present on Christmas day," stated First Lady Casey DeSantis. She emphasized the efforts of Hope Navigators in connecting Floridians to resources and aiding their journey towards self-sufficiency. The toy drive aims to ensure a joyful holiday through community donations.
The initiative allows individuals to purchase new and unwrapped toys online, which will be sent directly to Hope Florida. These contributions will be organized and distributed by Hope Florida throughout December.
"Our Department works hard to support and uplift families year-round," said Department of Children and Families Secretary Shevaun Harris. "We are appreciative of the First Lady’s commitment and dedication to meet the needs of our State’s vulnerable families."
First Lady DeSantis has encouraged state agencies and residents to assist in supporting foster families and caregivers. This collaboration with Hope Florida seeks to bring hope to children across the state.
Distribution events are planned throughout December. Organizations interested in partnering with Hope Florida can reach out via email at hopeflorida@myflfamilies.com.
