First Lady Casey DeSantis has announced the launch of the second annual 'Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive' in Tallahassee, Florida. The initiative aims to support foster families, Hope Florida participants, and other families in need during the holiday season. The toy drive is organized by Hope Florida in collaboration with state agencies and will accept donations until December 13, 2024.
"Every child should get to experience the joy of opening a present on Christmas day," stated First Lady Casey DeSantis. She emphasized the role of Hope Navigators in connecting Floridians to resources that promote self-sufficiency. "Through the donations of individuals and the goodwill of communities, the Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive will go the extra mile to ensure a magical holiday season."
The toy drive can be accessed online, allowing individuals to purchase new and unwrapped toys which are then sent directly to Hope Florida. These toys will be distributed throughout December by Hope Florida to nonprofits and families.
"Our Department works hard to support and uplift families year-round," said Shevaun Harris, Secretary of the Department of Children and Families. "We are appreciative of the First Lady’s commitment and dedication to meet the needs of our State’s vulnerable families. This initiative ensures that those parents and caregivers in need will be able to create special memories with their children this season."
First Lady DeSantis has encouraged state agencies and Floridians to contribute in any way possible to support foster families and caregivers. The partnership with Hope Florida aims to bring hope to children across Florida.
Distribution events are planned throughout December. Organizations interested in partnering with Hope Florida can reach out via email at hopeflorida@myflfamilies.com.
