FloridaCommerce has reported an increase in private sector employment for the Naples metro area, with 1,900 jobs added over the year by October 2024. The leisure and hospitality industry saw the largest growth, adding 700 jobs. Meanwhile, Ft. Myers experienced a rise of 900 jobs in its private sector, with government and construction sectors contributing significantly.
The unemployment rate in Naples rose to 3.5%, up from 3.2% the previous year, while Ft. Myers saw an increase to 3.6% from 3.4%. Despite these changes, Florida's statewide unemployment rate has been consistently lower than the national average for four years, standing at 3.3%. In October alone, Florida added over 107,000 private sector jobs.

In response to Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton since August, FloridaCommerce has approved over $52 million in funding via the Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to assist affected businesses. The program offers zero-interest loans to help small businesses recover from economic injury or physical damage due to Hurricane Milton.
