Florida flags at half-staff for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a memorandum to honor Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day by directing flags to be flown at half-staff across Florida. The memorandum, addressed to Brian Fienemann, Director of Real Estate Management and Development, commemorates the tragic events of December 7, 1941, when over two thousand American military personnel and civilians lost their lives during the Japanese attack on Naval Station Pearl Harbor.

The governor's directive is a mark of respect for those who died and the World War II veterans who fought for the United States. The order requires that both the United States and Florida state flags be lowered from sunrise to sunset on December 7, 2024. This gesture serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made during that pivotal moment in history.
