Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed the annual Battle of the Bulge Day proclamation. The event commemorates the 80th anniversary of the last major German offensive on the western front during World War II, which occurred on December 16, 1944. This battle continued until January 25, 1945, and ended with an Allied victory leading to Germany's surrender in May 1945.
More than 600,000 American troops were involved in this winter battle, with over 19,000 American soldiers losing their lives.
