SeaPort Manatee boosts capabilities with two new mobile harbor cranes

SeaPort Manatee is enhancing its cargo-handling operations with the addition of two new Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 mobile harbor cranes. These eco-efficient cranes arrived in early December after a trans-Atlantic journey from Antwerp, Belgium, aboard Spliethoff’s M/V Plantijngracht. The cranes are set to begin operations in January, increasing the total number of Gottwald mobile harbor cranes at SeaPort Manatee to seven.

Carlos Buqueras, executive director of SeaPort Manatee, commented on the development: “With cargo flowing through SeaPort Manatee at a record pace, this added lift capability could not be arriving at a more opportune time, further enhancing our ability to adeptly meet needs of consumers and industry alike.” The port handled over 11.8 million tons of cargo in the fiscal year ending September 30.

The new cranes can each lift up to 125 metric tons and together offer a tandem lift capability exceeding 200 metric tons. They incorporate technologies designed for energy efficiency, high performance, safety, and ease of maintenance.
