Celebrity Equinox makes historic debut at Port Canaveral

Celebrity Equinox has made history as the first Celebrity Cruises ship to dock at Port Canaveral, a major cruise hub in Central Florida. The 2,850-passenger vessel is now the 15th ship to call this bustling port its home.

Port Canaveral CEO Captain John Murray expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership: “We’re thrilled to welcome Celebrity Cruises as our newest cruise partner and excited to have Celebrity Equinox sailing from our port.” He added that the addition of this ship expands the options available for travelers and contributes to regional growth.

A traditional maritime plaque exchange took place on board the ship in The Theatre to mark its arrival. Participants included Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Fritz VanVolkenburg, Captain Murray, Captain Nikolaos Frantzis of Celebrity Equinox, and Jennifer Suarez, Vice President of Sales The Americas for Celebrity Cruises.

Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, shared her excitement about the new route: “At Celebrity we are continually striving to elevate our guests’ vacation experience from start to finish, and are delighted to offer even more ways to relax, unwind and explore the Caribbean.”

The Celebrity Equinox will operate out of Cruise Terminal 1 at Port Canaveral. It will offer week-long cruises visiting popular Caribbean destinations such as The Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Mexico, San Juan, and St. Maarten.

As part of Celebrity Cruises' Solstice Series ships, Celebrity Equinox provides a range of culinary and entertainment experiences. Notable features include over 20 dining options like Tuscan Grille and Le Petit Chef. Guests can also enjoy luxurious accommodations and unique amenities such as panoramic views from the Sky Observation Lounge and real grass at The Lawn Club.
