The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking in recognition of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, observed on January 11, 2025. The department emphasizes its ongoing efforts through legislative support and proactive law enforcement investigations.
"Florida is a law-and-order state under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, and we continue to take powerful and impactful strides to root out and prevent human trafficking," stated DBPR Secretary Melanie S. Griffin. She highlighted the empowerment of Florida’s law enforcement personnel to take decisive action against such crimes, along with raising awareness across the state through proactive enforcement, education efforts, and leading legislation.
As a licensing body for numerous public establishments in Florida, DBPR focuses on anti-human trafficking training, education, and enforcement as part of its key efforts.
