FloridaCommerce has announced the availability of $3.1 million in funding to support transitional housing for veterans and individuals recovering from substance use disorders through the Recovery Housing Program (RHP). The application period is open until February 17.
The funds, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are managed by FloridaCommerce. They aim to assist public or private nonprofit organizations and local government units across Florida that focus on helping veterans recover from substance use disorders. However, organizations serving non-veterans are also eligible. The funds can be used for relocation payments, rental assistance, new construction, acquisition, and rehabilitation of housing facilities.
FloridaCommerce expressed its commitment to aiding veterans and those in recovery through this program. In a previous round of funding in 2022, St. Vincent de Paul received support and has since assisted 29 beneficiaries.
Interested nonprofits and local governments can apply online until February 17. A webinar providing technical assistance and an overview of the application process will be held on January 16. Further details and registration information are available on the RHP webpage.
