The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) has expressed support for President Trump's recent actions aimed at reducing federal regulations. The organization praised the President for revoking executive orders that had contributed to what it described as an unchecked growth of federal bureaucracy.
According to FGA, the regulatory measures implemented during the Biden administration resulted in significant costs to Americans, amounting to over $1.8 trillion. In contrast, policies from Trump's previous term reportedly saved taxpayers $280 billion and encouraged economic expansion. The organization claims that the Biden administration's approach hindered business innovation by granting excessive authority to bureaucrats.
The FGA highlighted the impact of these regulations, noting that within his first year, President Biden finalized 69 major rules and imposed more than $200 billion in new regulatory costs. Over two years, this figure rose to $319 billion, a sum surpassing any other presidency and nearly 14 times greater than Trump’s initial two years. Additionally, these regulations introduced approximately 220 million hours of paperwork, counteracting efforts by the Trump administration which had reduced paperwork by six million hours during its first two years.
Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO of FGA, stated: “President Trump is wasting no time taking on the federal bureaucracy and making good on his promise to deliver America’s Golden Age.” He further commented on Trump's intent to reverse Biden-era regulations: “Reversing these crushing Biden-era regulations puts the American people back in the driver’s seat and unelected bureaucrats back in their place.”
