Twenty veterans from Florida were inducted into the Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame on February 7, 2025, during a ceremony in Tallahassee. This marks the induction of the Class of 2024, which is the 12th group to receive this honor.
The inductees include: Augustus Aikens, Ronald Beasley, Jennifer S. Carroll, Thomas Corey (deceased), Arthur F. (Chip) Diehl III, Loretta Ford (deceased), Lorraine Holland, Beatrice Love-Moore, Lionel Lowry, John McGee, Carl Miller, Charles Mohr, Jerry Neff, Ronald Rook (deceased), Karen “Sue” Roper, Steven Saladino, Kurt Schuh, Jon Shebel, James Stavridis and Harold Youmans.
Governor Ron DeSantis and his Cabinet unanimously voted to induct these veterans into the Hall of Fame in December 2024. The Hall of Fame honors military veterans who have significantly contributed to Florida through civic activities or other pursuits after their service. It differs from traditional military halls of fame by focusing on contributions made post-military service.
For those interested in nominating individuals for future classes, guidelines and submission forms are available on the Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame website. Public nominations for the Class of 2025 must be submitted by March 1, 2025.
The Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs serves as an essential resource for approximately 1.4 million veterans residing in Florida. It manages State Veterans’ Homes and provides outreach services to ensure veterans can access benefits and support they have earned.
