The James Madison Institute (JMI) has announced the addition of Stephanie Smith to its board. Smith brings a wealth of experience in public policy, strategic public relations, and stakeholder relationships. Her career includes roles in government relations and public affairs at companies such as Uber, Anthem, Inc., and AT&T.
Smith's extensive background in public service is highlighted by her previous positions as Executive Deputy, Chief of Staff, and Director of External Affairs for Governor Charlie Crist. She also served as Special Events Coordinator for Governor Jeb Bush and worked as a Business Development Liaison in the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development.
Currently appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis, Smith serves as the Chair of CareerSource Florida’s Board of Directors. She is also actively involved with several boards including Volunteer Florida Foundation, PACE Center for Girls, the Florida Alliance Against Human Trafficking, and the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University.
