Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order aimed at ending federal welfare benefits for illegal aliens. This move marks a shift from policies implemented during the Biden administration, which reportedly expanded access to programs such as Medicaid and food stamps for those entering the United States illegally.
The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) conducted research indicating that these expansions contributed to a rise in government dependency among Americans. The organization claims that President Biden's policies discouraged work among approximately 2.4 million Americans, exacerbating issues of dependency on government aid.
Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO of FGA, commented on the recent executive action: “Yesterday’s executive order is a major victory for common sense and the American people.” He criticized past political decisions that he believes prioritized illegal aliens over American citizens in need.
Bragdon further stated, “With this executive order, President Trump recognizes a fundamental truth: Limited taxpayer resources put toward welfare programs should be reserved for truly needy Americans, not illegal aliens.”
The FGA is a non-profit think tank advocating for public policy solutions that foster opportunities for all Americans to achieve their version of the American Dream. They encourage engagement through subscriptions to their newsletter and partnerships aimed at promoting policy changes that support entrepreneurship and personal responsibility.
