Protecting American Consumers Together (PACT) has announced that lawsuit abuse is costing families thousands of dollars annually and has urged President Trump and Congress to implement legal reforms. This announcement was made in a press release on March 4.
According to a new nationwide survey conducted by GS Strategy Group for PACT, 85% of voters say their cost of living has increased over the past year, with 56% stating it has gone up "a lot." The survey highlights growing concerns that rising costs are making everyday expenses more burdensome. PACT is urging policymakers to take action to lower costs, including addressing lawsuit abuse, which many voters believe is driving prices higher.
A report by Florida Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) indicates that Floridians pay an average 'tort tax' of $1,238 per person annually due to frivolous lawsuits and abuses of the civil justice system. This amounts to nearly $5,000 for a family of four, significantly impacting household budgets.
PACT is a 501(c)(4) national advocacy and educational organization focused on consumer protection and legal system transparency. The group aims to curb predatory legal practices, reduce lawsuit abuse, and lower costs for consumers by advocating for policy reforms and public awareness initiatives. PACT’s efforts include TV, digital, and print ads, educational campaigns, and legislative advocacy to promote a fair and accountable legal system, as per its website.
