FloridaCommerce has reported significant private sector growth in the Orlando metro area, highlighting a notable increase in employment figures for March 2025. According to the data released, private sector employment in the region rose by 27,400 jobs, marking a 2% increase over the year. The labor force in Orlando expanded by 19,820, equating to a 1.3% rise.
"Today, FloridaCommerce announced the Orlando metro area gained the highest number of private sector jobs over the year in March 2025 among all metro areas," the statement read. Specific sectors leading the growth in Orlando include leisure and hospitality with 7,900 new jobs, construction with 3,300 jobs, financial activities with 2,300 jobs, and professional and business services with 2,200 jobs. The area's unemployment rate was noted at 3.4%, a 0.4 percentage point rise from the previous year.
At the state level, the manufacturing sector saw a continuous upward trend with a five-month streak of job additions, totaling 1,900 new positions in March alone. The industry now employs 434,600 people, seeing a 1.3% increase from the previous year. Statewide employment figures reflected an overall gain of 113,600 jobs, a 1.3% growth exceeding the national rate of 1.2%. Florida’s unemployment rate has consistently been lower than the national average for 53 months since November 2020. "Florida’s private sector job growth rate has exceeded the national rate for 46 of the last 48 months since April 2021."
