Governor Ron DeSantis has announced more than $14.5 million in investments through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund aimed at enhancing infrastructure and workforce development across the state. The funded projects focus on advancing important sectors such as aviation, aerospace, and manufacturing, with awards going to Indian River State College, Miami Dade College, Sebring Airport Authority, and Wakulla County.
"Florida’s Job Growth Grant Fund drives economic development by supporting critical infrastructure projects and expanding workforce training opportunities at the local level," stated Governor Ron DeSantis.
These efforts are backed by Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly, who emphasized, "Governor DeSantis’ commitment and focus on infrastructure and workforce investments, especially in target sectors like manufacturing and aerospace and aviation, continues to support job creation and economic prosperity in Florida."
Among the recipients, Indian River State College has been allocated $4 million to establish the Institute for Industrial Manufacturing and Production Training. This initiative aims to provide accelerated technical vocational training, addressing the needs of local manufacturers.
Miami Dade College will receive $4,896,207 to introduce two new aircraft mechanic programs. Graduates from these programs are expected to move directly into industry roles with minimal extra training.
The Sebring Airport Authority has been granted $2,113,560 to renovate and resurface Webster Turn Drive. These improvements are anticipated to enhance logistical efficiency and benefit local businesses operating between the logistics center and the airport.
Wakulla County is set to receive $3.5 million for constructing two county-owned buildings. These developments are intended to expand manufacturing prospects within Wakulla County's Opportunity Park.
