Attorney General James Uthmeier's Office of Statewide Prosecution has achieved guilty convictions against Eshaud Suid and Sami Suid. The pair were found guilty of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering for their involvement in a theft ring that targeted baby formula from several retailers, including Publix, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie. This criminal operation affected multiple counties across Florida, causing over $67,000 in losses.
Attorney General Uthmeier commented on the case: "While parents were finding empty shelves for their hungry babies, these guys transported stolen baby formula to others who would sell the stolen goods." He credited law enforcement partners and Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutors Colleen Monroe and Cristina Castillo for their roles in dismantling the criminal enterprise. Uthmeier stated that "the last delivery for these criminals is to a state prison."
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. It revealed that Eshaud and Sami Suid played significant roles in selling stolen items acquired by a larger theft ring. Stolen baby formula was stored at their residence before being sold to a buyer at a Tampa convenience store.
Eshaud Suid was convicted of first-degree felonies related to racketeering activities. Sami Suid faced similar charges but also received an additional conviction for dealing in stolen property, classified as a second-degree felony. The two face substantial prison sentences—up to 60 years for Eshaud Suid and up to 75 years for Sami Suid.
