The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) recently recognized outstanding nurses in Florida during the Excellence in Long Term Care Nursing Award Ceremony at its annual Nurse Leadership Program held in Bonita Springs. The ceremony honors nurses and nursing assistants who align with FHCA’s mission to deliver high-quality care to long-term care residents.

Jody Wakelee, Director of Nursing at Okeechobee Health Care Facility, was named the 2025 Nurse Administrator of the Year. With a career spanning 27 years at Okeechobee, she has progressed from an LPN and floor nurse to her current role. Her contributions include improving quality measures and reducing staff turnover.
Shana Myer, Registered Nurse at Aspire at Ridge Haven in New Port Richey, received the title of 2025 Registered Nurse of the Year. Starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Med-Tech, Myer plays a crucial role in mentoring new staff and coordinating resident care planning.
Jazzmyne Davis from Hillside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Zephyrhills was honored as the 2025 Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year. Davis is recognized for her efforts in reducing falls and rehospitalization rates while enhancing dementia care practices.
Gloria Bellamy, Certified Nursing Assistant at Community Convalescent Center in Plant City, was awarded the title of 2025 Certified Nursing Assistant of the Year. With over 52 years at Community Convalescent Center, Bellamy is celebrated as a community pillar known for her dedication.
Amanda Justice from Crestview Rehabilitation Center was named the 2025 Rising Star in Long Term Care Nursing. Her journey from cart nurse to Assistant Director of Nursing/Unit Manager showcases her leadership during crises and commitment to implementing evidence-based practices.
