The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is organizing a series of public workshops, both in-person and online, to discuss the regulation and management of oyster harvests in Apalachicola Bay and throughout Florida. The meetings will cover various topics, including licensing requirements for fishery participants, harvest limits, seasons, tolerances for undersized oysters, and enforcement related to undersized oysters in certified oyster houses.
The scheduled workshops are set to take place on June 3rd at Chapman Auditorium in Apalachicola from 6-8 p.m. ET and an online session on June 5th during the same hours.
Those interested in further details can visit the FWC Marine Fisheries Workshops page. Feedback from these sessions will contribute to staff recommendations for proposed statewide rules specific to Apalachicola Bay. These proposals will be reviewed by the Commission during their meeting in August 2025.
Individuals unable to attend the workshops have options to submit comments via the FWC Saltwater Public Comments page or by emailing Marine@MyFWC.com. For any inquiries or additional information, contact is available through phone at 850-487-0554 or via email at Marine@MyFWC.com.
