The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has approved a regulation change that increases the dead shrimp allowance for commercial live bait shrimp harvesters in Nassau and Duval counties. The new rule raises the limit from 1 gallon to 5 gallons.
According to the FWC, this adjustment was made at the request of stakeholders. The change will allow commercial shrimpers to use dead shrimp instead of discarding them. It also brings the dead shrimp allowance for these harvesters in line with regulations across the state.
