The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced a series of public workshops to discuss proposed rules for managing commercial and recreational oyster harvesting in Apalachicola Bay and across the state. The proposed regulations will address licensing requirements, annual harvest levels, bag limits, harvest seasons, reporting procedures, and authorized landing locations.
The workshops are scheduled for September 30 from 6-8 p.m. ET at the County Commission Meeting Room in Apalachicola, and October 7 from 6-8 p.m. ET at the Chapman Auditorium in Apalachicola.
According to FWC, "Your feedback will inform staff’s recommendation for final rules for oyster management in Apalachicola Bay and statewide that the Commission will consider at their November 2025 meeting."
