Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has announced the allocation of $40 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP). The funding is aimed at expanding workforce education programs, with an emphasis on industries that are currently in high demand.
According to the department, this round of funding will support 49 programs across Florida and is expected to increase their workforce capacity by 59 percent. Since Workforce CAP was established in 2023, total investment in workforce education initiatives under the program has reached $240 million.
Commissioner Kamoutsas stated, “Florida’s workforce is stronger than ever because we are investing directly in students and the programs that prepare them for success. This $40 million investment expands opportunities across the state, giving students access to cutting-edge training and ensuring Florida remains the best place to build a career.”
The Workforce CAP program funds both new and existing workforce development initiatives throughout Florida. It provides students in high school and postsecondary institutions with practical training experiences related to sectors experiencing strong job growth.
Institutions receiving grants were not detailed in the announcement, but officials highlighted that these awards help establish and expand career and technical education pathways leading to industry-recognized certifications. The funding aims to ensure students statewide have access to essential resources and training for success in emerging fields.
