The recreational harvest of flounder in all Florida state and federal waters will be closed starting October 15 and will remain closed through November 30. The season is set to reopen on December 1. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, this closure is intended to protect flounder during the period when pre-spawning groups form, which helps ensure that more fish are able to reproduce each year.
For additional information about flounder regulations, the public can visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's website at https://myfwc.com/marine by selecting “Recreational Regulations” and then “Flounder.”
