On Tuesday evening in Destin, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) recognized leaders in the hospitality industry at its 2025 Hospitality Stars of the Industry Hall of Fame gala, held at the Henderson Beach Resort. The event included the induction of new Hall of Fame members and the swearing-in of the 2026 FRLA Board Executive Committee, with Greg Cook of The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, taking on the role of Chairman of the Board.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dick Rivera, founder of Suncoast Hospitality Partners LLC in Sarasota. Rivera’s career spans over 50 years in the restaurant industry, including leadership roles with brands such as Darden Restaurants, Longhorn Steakhouse, TGI Friday’s, Inc., Applebee’s, and El Chico Corp. He has received several national honors and has served on numerous boards, including Golden Corral Corporation and Ringling College of Art and Design. Rivera is also a U.S. Army veteran with degrees from Washington and Lee University and Johnson & Wales University.
The Supplier of the Year award went to Jordan Beckner, founding partner and President of Sales at FiberBuilt Umbrellas and Cushions in Pompano Beach. Beckner has contributed to industry organizations such as the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Educational Foundation and FRLA’s Marketing & Allied Member Council. He has also served as co-chair of the Suppliers’ Council for the American Resort Development Association.
Mike Quillen, President of Watershed Hospitality Concepts and Gecko’s Hospitality Group, was named Restaurateur of the Year. Quillen oversees 15 locations across Florida and North Carolina and is known for his community involvement and support for hospitality education. His restaurants have received multiple guest awards and he has been recognized with humanitarian honors by both state and national restaurant associations.
Heiko Dobrikow, Executive Vice President of The Las Olas Company and General Manager of Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, was honored as Hotelier of the Year. Dobrikow’s three-decade career includes leadership at major resorts and active participation in local civic organizations. He has received recognition for his business and community impact in South Florida.
The FRLA represents more than 10,000 members across Florida’s hospitality sector. Established in 1946, it merged with the Florida Hotel and Motel Association in 2006. The association advocates for its members’ interests through legislative work and offers regulatory compliance training as well as high school career programs statewide. Florida’s hospitality industry is valued at nearly $112 billion and employs about two million people.
