Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Success Academy will open its first charter school in Miami. This expansion is part of Florida’s Schools of Hope initiative, which aims to increase educational opportunities for families in areas with persistently low-performing schools.

“Florida leads the nation in educational freedom, and today we are adding to that promise,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “With Success Academy opening in Miami, students will now have access to one of the highest-performing education models in the country. Florida’s families deserve world-class education, and we will continue to make it available to every child no matter their zip code.”

Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas also commented on the announcement. “Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, parents are empowered to choose the educational path that best suits their children’s unique needs,” he said. “Success Academy offers families another high-quality option, backed by a nationally recognized track record of academic excellence and school improvement.”

The Schools of Hope program was established in 2017 with the goal of providing students from persistently low-performing schools a pathway to a better education. The program allows nonprofit charter networks with proven success among low-income populations—known as Hope Operators—to serve these communities without barriers and help close achievement gaps.

Governor DeSantis has introduced statutes and initiatives aimed at increasing educational choices for students and families across Florida.
