FloridaCommerce has reported that the education and health services sector in the West Palm Beach metro area added 6,200 jobs over the year as of April 2025. The area’s private sector employment increased by 2,900 jobs, representing a 0.5% rise from the previous year. The labor force in West Palm Beach saw an increase of 828 people, marking a 0.1% growth.

The unemployment rate in West Palm Beach was recorded at 3.4% for April 2025, which is an increase from the previous year’s rate of 2.9%.

Statewide, Florida’s private sector employment rose by 21,800 jobs from the prior month. The state’s economy stands at $1.7 trillion, reinforcing its position as a significant economic player in the nation. “This month, the U.S. News & World Report has ranked Florida as the #1 economy in the nation for the second year in a row and #1 in economic growth,” according to FloridaCommerce.

Since May 2020, Florida employers have added jobs for most months except three out of sixty. As of April 2025, there has been a total private employment increase of 125,700 jobs over the year statewide.

Florida’s job growth rate continues to outperform national averages with consistent gains across sectors such as education and health services and professional business services.
