FloridaCommerce has released employment data for the West Palm Beach area, indicating a gain of 7,900 private sector jobs over the year in May 2025. The education and health services industry saw the largest increase, adding 6,300 jobs. The labor force in this metro area grew by 3,954 people, marking a 0.5% rise from the previous year.

The unemployment rate in West Palm Beach was recorded at 3.4% in May 2025, reflecting an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to May 2024.

Statewide, Florida’s private sector employment rose by 22,900 jobs from April to May 2025. The manufacturing sector contributed with an addition of 1,100 jobs during this period. For nearly four years, Florida’s job growth rate has surpassed the national average.

In terms of statewide job additions in May 2025, professional and business services led with 7,100 new positions. Other sectors showing growth included trade, transportation and utilities with 4,800 jobs; education and health services with 4,600; and leisure and hospitality with 4,100.

Florida continues to be recognized for its economic performance. U.S. News & World Report ranked it as having the top economy nationwide for two consecutive years and first place in economic growth.

Since May 2020, Florida employers have consistently added jobs almost every month except for three instances. Over the past year until May 2025, private employment increased by a total of 134,500 jobs or a growth rate of 1.5%. The state’s unemployment rate stood at 3.7%, remaining below the national average since November 2020.
