West Palm Beach sees job growth in education and health services sectors

FloridaCommerce has revealed employment data for the West Palm Beach area, highlighting an increase in jobs within the education and health services sector. According to the announcement, this sector has seen an addition of 5,500 jobs over the year in March 2025. In terms of broader private sector employment, an increase of 100 jobs was noted in the same period.

The labor market in the West Palm Beach area showed a decline, as the labor force decreased by 0.3%, equivalent to 2,564 fewer workers over the year, while the unemployment rate rose by 0.4 percentage points, reaching 3.4% in March 2025 compared to 3.0% in March the previous year.

Throughout Florida, a notable development was observed in the manufacturing industry, which reported job growth for the fifth consecutive month. This sector added 1,900 jobs in March, resulting in a total of 434,600 jobs statewide—an annual increase of 5,700 jobs (1.3%). In addition, Florida reported having 27,310 manufacturing establishments, marking a 32% increase since early 2019.

Statewide, private employment saw an annual rise of 113,600 jobs (1.3%), surpassing the national growth rate of 1.2%. Florida’s unemployment rate has remained below the national average for over four years, while its private sector job growth has exceeded the national rate for the majority of the past four-year period.

The trade, transportation, and utilities sector experienced the highest job increase in March 2025 with 5,800 new positions, followed by the education and health services sector, which added 5,600 jobs.

Florida job seekers have access to various resources, such as Florida’s Labor Exchange Marketplace, Employ Florida, which connects them to employment and training opportunities. CareerSource Florida’s network offers personalized career counseling, resume assistance, and job placement support. They also provide apprenticeship programs for skill development. Additionally, Veterans Florida assists military veterans in transitioning to civilian jobs, while the Military Family Employment Advocacy Program offers workforce services to military families.
