FloridaCommerce has reported an increase in private sector employment in the West Palm Beach metro area, with 800 jobs added over the year as of January 2025. The education and health services sector led this growth by adding 5,500 jobs.

The labor force in West Palm Beach increased by 4,331 workers over the same period, while the unemployment rate rose to 3.7% from last year’s 3.2%.

Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted that Florida’s labor force surpassed 11.1 million in January 2025, reflecting economic resilience. The state saw job growth across various industries, notably manufacturing which reached a total of 430,800 jobs.

Revised data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Florida’s labor force was underestimated by 162,000 workers previously. This adjustment confirms consistent growth or stability in the state’s labor force for most months over the past year.

In January 2025 alone, Florida added a total of 113,600 jobs statewide. Since May 2020, employers have expanded their workforce in nearly all months except three out of fifty-seven. Florida’s private sector job growth rate stood at 1.3%, slightly above the national average of 1.2%. For over four years since November 2020, Florida’s unemployment rate has remained below the national average.

The education and health services sector gained an additional 7,200 jobs from December to January; leisure and hospitality followed with an increase of 6,100 jobs.

Resources are available for job seekers through platforms like Employ Florida and CareerSource Florida’s network of local career centers offering career counseling and job placement support. Programs such as Apprentice Florida aim to expand apprenticeship opportunities statewide.

Job availability remains strong with more than 393,000 positions listed online across Florida for those seeking employment or new opportunities.
