Fred Taylor named DELP scholar by American Health Care Association

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Experienced nursing home administrator, Purple Heart Veteran, and Florida Health Care Association member Frederick Taylor has been selected for the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) by the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). Taylor is one of 15 DELP scholars chosen nationwide to participate in the program designed to cultivate a diverse group of leaders equipped to take on significant roles within the long-term care profession.

“Fred has served our country, the profession, and our association with great dedication," said Emmett Reed, FHCA Chief Executive Officer. "We're proud that he has been selected for this important program and look forward to him sharing his experiences as we continue looking for ways to mentor the next generation of long-term care leaders.”

Frederick A. Taylor, Jr. is a licensed nursing home administrator in both Florida and Indiana with over 30 years of experience in health care leadership and management. After successfully serving in administrator and regional leadership roles with continuing care communities and nursing centers, Taylor established F.A. Taylor & Associates, which provides interim executive director services to long-term care organizations across the country needing a short-term nursing home or continuing care community administrator or executive director.

Taylor, who served with the 1st Cavalry Division in the U.S. Army, is also the recipient of three Purple Hearts for combat-wounded Vietnam Veterans. He was the National Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, is a past member of the National Infantry Association Board of Directors, and has given more than 10,000 hours in volunteer service to Veterans' organizations. In 2016, he was inducted into the prestigious Florida Veterans Hall of Fame and inducted into the Indiana Military Veterans' Hall of Fame in 2017.

“I'm honored to be selected as a DELP Scholar by American Health Care Association. I look forward to the opportunity to share my passion for leadership and delivering quality care with my fellow long-term care professionals from around the country,” said Taylor.

Taylor's demonstrated leadership and commitment to fostering diversity and excellence within long-term care were among many reasons he was selected for AHCA/NCAL’s Diversity Executive Leadership Program. The program offers two years of specialized training, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities enabling participants to serve on various committees and boards. Taylor is an FHCA Florida Leaders graduate and member of FHCA's Annual Conference Legislative and Public Relations committees.
