Florida Healthcare Association honors leaders improving long-term care quality

The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) recently honored the 2024 Long Term Care Achievement award winners during its Annual Conference & Trade Show in Orlando, Florida. FHCA's annual Long Term Care Achievement Awards recognize exemplary contributions from long-term care leaders and volunteers who demonstrate a commitment to quality care through their dedication to residents, staff, and the profession.

Recipients of the 2024 FHCA Long Term Care Achievement Awards include:

- Adult Volunteer of the Year: Al Cole, The Oaks of Clearwater

- Youth Volunteer of the Year: Annierya Randall, Brynwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello

- Group Volunteer of the Year: Elks Lodge 1892, Clyde E. Lassen State Veterans’ Nursing Home in St. Augustine

- Joe Negron Resident of the Year: Ron Chavis, Brynwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello

- ALF Administrator of the Year: Lisa Brooks, The Residence at Timber Pines in Spring Hill

- Nursing Home Administrator of the Year: Kevin McDonnell, Seaside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Daytona Beach

Additional recognitions included awards selected by past recipients:

- Walter M. Johnson, Jr. Circle of Excellence Award: Emmett Reed, CEO of Florida Health Care Association

- Arthur H. Harris Government Services Award: Andrew Weisman, President of NuVision Management

- Willis J. Gregson Associate Member of the Year: Stephen Lomonico, Thrive Behavioral Sciences

"We are pleased to honor this year’s Long Term Care Achievement Award winners," said Emmett Reed, CEO of FHCA. "These individuals have gone above and beyond for our long-term care community."

Al Cole was named Adult Volunteer of the Year for his commitment to enriching lives at The Oaks of Clearwater. Annierya Randall was recognized as Youth Volunteer of the Year for her four years dedicated to bringing joy at Brynwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Elks Lodge #1892 received Group Volunteer of the Year for their 14-year support at Clyde E. Lassen State Veterans’ Nursing Home.

Ron Chavis was awarded Joe Negron Resident of the Year after serving as Resident Council President at Brynwood Health and being discharged home after five years due to improved health.

Kevin McDonnell received Nursing Home Administrator of the Year for leading Seaside Health through challenges including COVID-19 and Hurricane Ian while achieving Joint Commission recertification and a five-star rating from CMS' Care Compare. Lisa Brooks was named ALF Administrator of the Year for her two decades ensuring high-quality care at The Residence at Timber Pines.

Emmett Reed received Walter M. Johnson Jr., Circle of Excellence Award for his leadership over 15 years which has seen FHCA grow its advocacy initiatives significantly.

Andrew Weisman earned Arthur H. Harris Government Services Award for his role in securing increased funding during Florida’s 2024 legislative session benefiting nursing centers' workforce.

Stephen Lomonico was honored with Willis J. Gregson Associate Member Award for his service supporting FHCA member centers through his work with Thrive Behavioral Sciences.

"These individuals have made significant contributions to the association," said Anita Faulmann, FHCA Immediate Past President.

FHCA's Long Term Care Achievement Awards are sponsored by Elite Medical Staffing and presented annually during FHCA's conference.
