Florida emergency management urges application for roof repair aid post-Hurricane Milton

The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) is reminding residents affected by Hurricane Milton to apply for the Operation Blue Roof Program before the deadline on November 14. This initiative, led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, was extended at the request of the state and FEMA to provide continued support.

As of November 7, over 5,900 roofs damaged by Hurricane Milton have received installations through this program. The service is available to residents in several counties including Brevard, Citrus, Charlotte, DeSoto, Flagler, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Manatee, Martin, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Lucie, Sumter and Volusia.

Operation Blue Roof offers a free service that provides fiber-reinforced sheeting for storm-damaged roofs to protect them until permanent repairs can be made. Homeowners and those with permanently occupied rental properties are eligible for this assistance.
