Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Alexis A. Lambert as Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection. Lambert currently holds the position of Chief of Staff at the Division of Bond Finance, a role she has been in since 2018. In this capacity, she has contributed to the Governor’s debt reduction strategy, leading to a significant decrease in the state's outstanding debt.
Before her current role, Lambert was Chief of Staff at the Florida Department of Health (DOH), where she managed department activities and its 15,000 employees while acting as a liaison to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Her career also includes serving as Director of Communications for State Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and holding leadership roles in several other state departments. Lambert is a native of Tallahassee and an alumna of Mercer University. She is also involved with Space Florida and the State Emergency Response Commission as a board member.
